Contribution / insurance payment

The contribution (Beitrag) is the regular payment made by the policyholder to the insurer to maintain coverage. It can be due monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. In statutory health insurance (GKV), "Beitrag" is the preferred term; for private and property insurance, "Prämie" is also common.
