Chief physician treatment

Chief physician treatment is an elective hospital service where the patient is personally treated by the senior doctor (Chefarzt or Oberarzt). Statutory health insurance members must pay for this privately or cover it through supplementary insurance. Privately insured patients often have this included in their standard plan. Costs are billed according to the medical fee schedule (GOÄ).
