Coverage limit

The coverage limit (Deckungssumme) is the maximum amount an insurer will pay for a single claim. If damages exceed this limit, you are personally responsible for the remainder. In personal liability insurance, coverage limits typically range from €10 million to €50 million — experts recommend at least €10 million.
