Double insurance

Double insurance exists when the same risk is insured with two or more insurers. In the event of a claim, the policyholder may not receive more than the actual loss — the insurers share the payment between them. Deliberate double insurance for financial gain is prohibited. Unintentional overlaps should be reported and one policy cancelled.
