Sickness benefit
Sickness benefit (Krankengeld) is a GKV payment made when an employee is unable to work for more than six weeks. The employer typically pays full wages for the first six weeks (Lohnfortzahlung); after that, the health insurer pays sickness benefit of approximately 70% of gross income.
