Notice period for cancellation

The cancellation notice period (Kündigungsfrist) is the time you must give notice before a policy ends. For most German insurance contracts, this is three months before the contract renewal date. Missing the deadline means the contract automatically renews — usually for another year. After a claim, both parties often have the right to cancel early.
