Policyholder duty / obligation
An Obliegenheit is a duty of the policyholder whose breach entitles the insurer to reduce or refuse the benefit. Typical duties include: reporting a claim promptly, not having the damage repaired without the insurer's consent, and providing truthful information. These duties apply both before and after an insured event.
