Statutory long-term care insurance
Statutory long-term care insurance (Pflegepflichtversicherung) is a legally mandatory insurance in Germany that covers care costs when a person becomes dependent on care. It is linked to health insurance: GKV members join the social care scheme; PKV members join the private scheme. Since benefits are often insufficient, a supplementary private care insurance is recommended. Contribution rate: approx. 3.4% of income (2024).
