Co-payment
Co-payments are legally regulated out-of-pocket contributions that statutory health insurance members must pay for certain services. Examples: €10 per medication pack, €10 per day in hospital (max. 28 days/year), €10 per therapeutic treatment prescription. People with chronic conditions or low incomes can be exempted from co-payments if their burden limit (1–2% of gross income) is exceeded.
